Breastfeeding and the Second Trimester
I remember taking a nap literally every afternoon at 5 PM with my first during the first trimester. But real talk— I turned a corner right at 13ish weeks. I felt like a new woman.
There's also an often small sigh of relief when you hit week 13 and continue into the 2nd trimester. Are you still anxious or even feeling a little freedom? Either way— I am here rooting you on!!
I’m also praying that any nausea you may have felt is beginning to subside and that you regain your energy as you enter the "honeymoon phase" of pregnancy.
So, whats going on right now? If you've been around for a while you already know that:
1. Baby is forming (obvi)
2. Your boobs are tender
3. Your boobs are growing
Additionally:
4. Your areolas are getting darker
Your areolas are getting DARKER. The areola is the dark-colored area around the nipples.
They get more obvious than before because it helps your baby find your nipple.
5. Your veins are changing
The veins (everywhere but especially in your boobs) are CHANGING. They may become more visible on your breasts as blood flow increases.
Will you kill me if I tell you your boobs may never look quite the same again?😰
6. Your nipple may change
The nipples are CHANGING too. Your nipples may become larger, stick out more, or even sometimes darken in color.
