Breastfeeding and the First Trimester: Part 2
You're rounding out the first trimester!!
The big question is... how are you feeling?
If you are still feeling sleepy and nauseated... treat yourself to these pajamas! They'll last you all pregnancy and postpartum.
I also wear them not pregnant and nursing with no shame😜
So, whats going on right now?
1. Baby is forming
I know, I'm captain obvious. But still, your baby is completely FORMING. Your hormones are totally changing (helllllo mood swings and morning sickness).
Your baby is growing basically all of its major organs... even their little finger nails. Their heartbeat began around 5-6 weeks gestation and they are beginning to move… even though you likely dont feel that YET.
2. Your boobs are tender.
Your boobs are likely TENDER and sensitive. This can often be one of the earliest signs of pregnancy… like before you miss your period early. It’s caused by your hormones (estrogen and progesterone) that increase after implantation.
3. Your boobs are growing
Your boobs are GROWING. Boobs are getting bigger because of more blood flow, the milk ducts are growing and milk making tissue is increasing.

Overall, the breast changes during the first trimester are normal responses to pregnancy hormones... and are actually essential for you to make milk and feed your baby. These changes may cause you some insecurities for now, but rest assured that it is for the good of your nugget.
If you are planning to breastfeed, begin slowly thinking about how you should prepare—labor & delivery is not the only thing to focus on.
Sending you hugs & anti-nausea meds,
